We only wanted a place to sleep on the way to Northern NSW, travelling with our dogs and 9 month old baby, so we booked a dog-friendly room. It was already below par when we arrived, but we tried to make do. The shower curtain smelled of urine, the towels were yellow-stained and had holes, and the carpet had stains and other marks. Things got much worse when we sat on the floor to play with our child. My partner and I realized we were being bitten, and soon all three of us had red welts and bite marks. There were fleas, mites, or something else in the room, and we had to leave straight away. Given how bad the bites were, we had to watch our child closely for an allergic reaction. I told reception what had happened, but the staff didn’t seem to care. We asked for at least a partial refund since we’d been there less than two hours, but were refused because we’d used the “facilities.” I wouldn’t recommend that anyone, or any animal, stay here. In my view, the place needs to be shut and fumigated before someone has a serious allergic reaction.

We were only there for about half an hour in total, since we went out for dinner and came back. The air conditioners weren’t working properly, and in the replacement room the damaged screen door wouldn’t shut. I also got an electric shock from a faulty PowerPoint with a hairdryer plugged into it. We decided the room wasn’t acceptable, left, and asked for a refund. We’re now taking action, and I’m telling people I know not to stay at this hotel.

I paid 199 dollars for what they called a family room. It was tiny, with a double bunk, a single bed and a queen bed squeezed in. There was no hot water at all, but when we raised it, staff kept insisting there was instead of trying to find the problem. The basin was very old and worn, with white paint on it and paint left on the taps. There were holes in the skirting boards, covered over with wallpaper and paint. The towels had apparently started out white, but were dull grey. I was not happy and wouldn’t recommend it.

The beds were comfortable and the location was good, but we won’t be back unless we’re desperate. We found someone’s dirty underwear under the bed, and the tap water tasted awful, so I didn’t want to refill the kids’ bottles. There also weren’t enough cups and bowls for five people, and we had only one teaspoon. To their credit, someone did bring more bowls when we asked. There was no one on site to contact, just a mobile number for a manager looking after several properties.
