Please take heed if you’re thinking of having lunch here. I ordered a simple hamburger, took one bite and literally gagged. I suspect it had been reheated. What a nerve to charge $26 for something they actually serve. Mac’s is gold by comparison, at least that’s fresh. This meal was the worst I’ve ever had, a disgrace. I’m writing this in the hope I can save people from choosing to eat here.

It’s a nice pub in a good location, but the food was horrible. My partner couldn’t eat the chicken parmi because it tasted like rubber. I ordered a steak sandwich and couldn’t even bite through the steak, while the bottom bread and chips were soggy. I think everything is pre-cooked.

The food was nicely presented and quite tasty, and we had an excellent view from our table. But the customer service was deplorable. The waitress, who also took the orders, was extremely rude to one of our guests, spoiling dinner for her and upsetting the rest of us. In this case our guest was right, and the waitress clearly hadn’t heard that the customer is always right. We reported it to the Duty Manager.

We’ve tried several different meals this summer, and they’ve all been well cooked and yum. This time I enjoyed a delicious steak sandwich with beautiful sea views. Chloe and Jye served me, and they were lovely, accommodating and efficient.

My family and I won’t be coming back. I’ve eaten at hundreds, maybe even thousands, of restaurants and never complained before, but this experience was awful enough that I feel I have to. The food for me and the others was completely cold. When I handed it over and started to explain, the man who served us at around 7pm snatched it from my hand and someone else’s, then walked off without a word. We asked for it to be reheated, and that was all. It came out incredibly quickly, within five minutes of ordering, so I don’t know if we’d been given someone else’s food after they left, or some random old food. He clearly hadn’t told anyone what was going on, because we waited forever until we asked someone else to check. They sorted it out. After reheating, though, it wasn’t the same: the cheese had completely shrivelled, and I might as well have ordered a schnitzel. The man had a man bun and facial hair and genuinely looked like he wanted to kill someone. He was rude, didn’t say a word, and clearly didn’t want to be there. Overall, he’s not someone I’d want working at the hotel. I’m a salesman, so I know how incredibly important customer service is and what it should look like. This was TERRIBLE. I wouldn’t recommend anyone come to st Leonards hotel for food, even if it were completely free.
