We liked the decor and generous seating, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner. There was plenty of space for the kids, and I managed to do all our washing before we left. Check-in was easy and communication was great. We walked into town for breakfast, with Aldi just down the road. A few things need attention: one bedroom door won’t close, a light bulb is out, and I had to clean ants out of the kettle. It took ten hot drinks before their taste finally disappeared.

The rooms, beds and bathrooms are comfortable, and with a few kitchen essentials and proper air conditioning this place could be great. As it was, staying there in January during incredibly hot, muggy weather was just awful. There was a tiny unit in the living area that couldn’t cool the apartment, and it seemed not to be working anyway. It blew hot air straight down if you stood under it. There was no air conditioning in the bedrooms, so even a working living room unit wouldn’t have cooled them. The owners need a unit big enough for the whole apartment or separate ones in each bedroom. There was no coffee plunger, just International Roast sachets. Even a three-star motel would offer better coffee. I wonder whether the owners have stayed in five-star accommodation themselves. It’s not five-star as advertised with that air conditioning situation.

We stayed two nights in a three-bedroom apartment. The linen and couch were clean, the Wi-Fi worked well, the TV was huge, and the ensuite was clean. The kitchen and main bathroom weren’t: there were cobwebs in the bathroom, filthy appliances, grease splashed on the walls, and the microwave and sandwich maker were dirty. The kitchen was missing basics, with too little cutlery for four people. The windows were filthy, as if they hadn’t been cleaned since the place was built, and several light bulbs didn’t work. We wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We were disappointed by the cleaning in the four-bedroom unit. The cupboards were filthy, cooking utensils and cookware were dirty, and the furniture was stained and dirty. Dust and cobwebs were everywhere, inside and out. The stove needed a lighter to work, and the rangehood light and fan didn’t work. With Stanthorpe’s cold winters, electric blankets would have helped, though the portable heaters were a reasonable alternative. The bedrooms and bathrooms were a good size, the beds were comfortable, and there was a massive amount of space. These apartments have real potential, but this one badly needs a detailed clean from top to bottom. It didn’t meet the advertised “5 star deluxe apartment” standard, especially for the price. Sadly, we wouldn’t stay again.
