APX World Square

APX World Square is always a pleasure. The staff are welcoming, the value is good, and the location is hard to beat. Rooms have plenty of space, with a lounge, desk, kitchenette, bathroom, TV, comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking city life. So much is nearby that it’s easier to list what isn’t. There are lots of food options around the hotel, and World Square has plenty under one roof if you can’t choose. The pool, exercise room and balcony views are nice too. The entrance is secured 24 hours a day, which is reassuring. The area generally feels safe, though I’d be careful coming back late at night. Walking around is easy, but it can get crowded in the day and early evening. Watch out for cars, bicycles and e-bikes illegally riding on the footpath.

Housekeeping was a frustrating mess. I work shifts, so my hours aren’t the usual 9-5. I left the Do Not Disturb sign up while resting before a night shift, but housekeeping came in anyway. Later, while I was at work, I took the sign down and messaged the property to ask for a clean using the mobile number on the BRB sign at reception. I came back and the room hadn’t been cleaned. Can’t win. The location is great, but I’ll probably avoid this place for both work and personal trips.

The location was ideal, close to transport and an easy walk from restaurants and shops. I felt safe walking around in the evening, and 24-hour reception was handy. Having to use the room key for the elevator also added to the sense of security. The apartment was clean and spacious with everything we needed, a comfortable bed and a great balcony. Excellent value for money.

We lost our payment and never got a room because of a booking mistake after a long trip, and reception didn’t care or sort it out. The receptionist did a strange spitting thing at me, and I’m not sure he understood much English. I asked for the manager, who seemed like a mythical creature and never appeared. I’d stayed here before, but that goodwill meant nothing this time. The cleaners were rude too. Even saying hello in the hallway on an earlier stay was met with rudeness. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel given the poor service and refusal to resolve problems for repeat customers.
