The location was great, but I wouldn't book Astra again. The apartment felt worn, wasn't well cared for, and wasn't as clean as other places we've stayed. It had only the bare minimum for more than a weekend, with no heat when we arrived in the cold. They brought a space heater quickly after we asked. There were no food storage containers or basics like salt and pepper. I had a similar issue with Astra in Perth, where the apartments weren't well cared for either.
I was a tenant in the Jasper building for 12 months. The staff at St Margaret were excellent and always helpful, and the location is amazing, with Woolies next door, a cheese shop downstairs and loads of bars and restaurants. The apartment is roomy, and I didn't have trouble with noisy neighbours above or below. There are downsides: the Beresford gets busy and loud on weekends, and street side apartments get limited sunlight because the buildings opposite block it. Pantry moths are common, though cockroaches aren't. The building gets sprayed regularly, but you have to pay to include your apartment. Across the street, the mission houses many troubled people, so expect emergency vehicles and sometimes shouting in the middle of the night. I have mixed feelings about leaving, but you'll have fun here!
There's lots of space and a nice balcony, and the location is the best. Customer service was incredible too, they were very helpful by email with all my concerns. I'd stay again.
