My third tenant has just asked to renew for another two years, and the tenant before them stayed over a year while looking for a house to buy. I’ve rented out my apartment at 301 Old Northern Road to several people since settlement four years ago, and I haven’t heard complaints from them after the initial repairs were sorted. There were a few defects after settlement, but Top Place fixed them all. They even repainted the whole apartment to thank me for waiting patiently while the repairs were dealt with. My current tenant is happy with the apartment’s prime location.

The location is excellent, with all kinds of amenities nearby. I know the building had problems in the past, but the developer has followed up on several issues in my apartment and worked to resolve them. With all the recent scrutiny, I’d say these apartments are among the most audited in Sydney for compliance, something I can’t say about other apartments.

The location was great, but the apartment was poorly made. The bathroom fan was over the toilet instead of the shower, so the room stayed damp and steamy and it was hard to keep mould at bay. We only had one parking bay per car and couldn’t use visitor parking. The fire alarm seemed to go off every other day, at all hours. Management wasn’t professional, the elevators were often out of order, and there was a strange whistling sound from the floor’s windows outside the elevator.

The building is in a great spot, but living here comes with frequent alarm interruptions. You get used to hearing the evacuation announcement, sometimes waking you in the morning and other times cutting into a quiet evening. I’ve heard people refer to an “Atmosphere discount”: apartments here sell for noticeably less than you might expect in this area.
