A great spot for photos and exercise, with lots of people fishing too. You can sit on the park benches and take in a great view of Sydney, from the Harbour Bridge to the Crown Casino, with both sides of the bridge visible. There’s even a table for playing chess.

The harbour view from the balcony is spectacular, especially after dark with the bridge, city lights and boats all out there. We were so sad to leave and head back to Melbourne in the morning. Getting around was easy: the ferry is a minute away and runs regularly, Circular Quay is about ten minutes off, and buses to the city stop at the door every 15 minutes. The ferry staff were amazingly friendly too. There are good restaurants nearby, including a lovely one down the steps. It’s an old sandstone building with a rather shabby-looking staircase, and you’ll need to carry your suitcases up. Inside, though, the apartment has been renovated and is lovely and roomy. I’d highly recommend it if you want to stay by the harbour. Sorry, I’m from Melbourne and keep calling it the bay! From the balcony, a strong man could throw a tennis ball into the water.
