Big4 Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park

The bathrooms and other amenities were quite new and okay, and the staff we spoke with were friendly. But this was by far the most expensive site we used, and also the worst. We brought our campervan for one night. The office was disorganised and sent us to two different sites that were already occupied. We ended up beside very noisy kids and chainsmokers, neither group seemed to care about the 10pm quiet rule or much else. Litter was everywhere, with plastic wrappers and crisp packets blowing around, which is bad for the wildlife. Many BBQ hotplates and some hobs were out of service. We wouldn’t return.

The location is still a big plus, with the beach and lagoon walkable and shops a short drive away. We’ve come every year for the past three years and have always appreciated how convenient it is. This time, though, our room didn’t seem properly freshened up by the 2pm check-in. There was dust on the tables, windows and power points, someone else’s socks in the drawers, and marks on the blankets. The blinds had mould on them. They were replaced after we mentioned it, but the glass behind them still wasn’t cleaned. After our good stays before, this was disappointing and below what we expected.

We’ve been coming to this holiday park for years, with our van, in tents, and recently in a bunkhouse, which I’d recommend. It’s consistently clean and easy to get around, and we’ve never had a security problem. It’s across from north narrabeen beach, and when camping you can hear the waves at night.

Reception placed our group’s sites close together, which we appreciated, and online check-in was quick and easy. The amenities stayed clean and tidy, and the park was full of families and travelers enjoying this lovely spot. The difficult part was a teenage party on the beach at 2am. Our street became a route for very young, loud, drunk kids passing through. They seemed local, and I hope it was a one-off because we’d like to return. It was a rough night, especially with a little one.
