YHA Blue Mountains Katoomba

The shared spaces were roomy, clean and had plenty to offer, and the kitchen was the cleanest I’ve come across in Australia. From check-in through checkout, the stay was great, and staff dealt with my requests promptly. My one issue was the cold room. It gets chilly, the insulation seemed poor, and I had to go to reception several times about the heaters. Without extra blankets and jumpers, it was too cold. I’d still definitely come back.

There’s a huge communal kitchen and lounge with everything you need, and the hostel is close to everything. Breakfast is available for $12 if booked ahead or $14 on the day, with cereal, milk, tea, yogurt, toast and some fruit. I’d suggest picking up breakfast supplies at the Aldi or Woolworth next door instead. It’s a lovely, well-kept place, and I’d happily stay again for longer.

The shared areas had lots to do and plenty of room, and the staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable, with cozy blankets, and the area is convenient, about a five-minute drive from the Blue Mountains, or even walkable. The price felt well worth it. 🛌😴

The building and decor are beautiful, and there’s a strong community feel. It’s a great base for tourist spots and Blue Mountains treks, with places a short stroll or 5-10 minute drive away. My room was very clean and had the essentials. There are game rooms and a TV room, so it works for families and different age groups too. One of the best and biggest YHAs I’ve stayed in.
