Crowne Plaza Sydney Burwood by IHG

The staff were very accommodating and helpful with all our room requests and the event preparations. They made sure everything was arranged well, and we really appreciated their support. It’s a perfect choice if you want easy access to the city and nearby dining spots. Everything was great overall.

The location is super convenient, close to the train station, Burwood Westfield, and the food street, and it was quiet at night. The room itself is huge, though it has marble floors throughout. The terrace is enormous but didn’t look very hygienic (see attached), and there were no minibar drinks, whether free or paid. The bathroom setup isn’t very family-friendly but was acceptable. The bath area is only partly covered, the door doesn’t lock, and there’s no handheld shower head. Water temperature was fine to adjust, but the pressure was weak. The AC defaults to eco mode, so it kept turning on and off. We asked for a cot for our child and waited over two hours, but it never arrived. Also, you have to check in at the front desk before you can pay for parking, which is a weird arrangement. Don’t drive here.

The room was fairly bare, but the bed was very comfortable, and the deep bath, big bath sheets, shower, and toiletries were nice. Thanks to Annie for the friendly greeting and service. On this stay at Crowne Plaza Burwood, the TV kept breaking up and losing sound, so I turned it off. The toiletry dispensers are fixed near the shower and there’s no soap, so I wasn’t sure how to use the body wash in the bath. Luckily, I’d brought my own bath bubbles. The ironing board was on a shelf above the sink, far beyond my reach. Everything now seems to require your device, from parking to the room service menu and minibar orders. The QR code is on the front of the fridge, but you have to bend down to scan it. I was told there would be a tablet or paper menu, but neither was provided. I’ve stayed here before and was disappointed this time.

We loved our stay, and luckily our room had a fabulous view of the NYE fireworks. If we hadn’t been on that side of the hotel, the night would have been a complete disaster. We went back to our room because the NYE party was such a letdown. We paid a lot for the party, but at 11pm people were allowed in for free. Guests with young kids piled in around then and totally ruined the experience. Young kids aren’t allowed in licensed premises at night, so I can’t understand how or why they were let in. It was very, very annoying. Don’t let young kids and piles of adults gatecrash when others have paid so much to be there.
