Falcon Lodge

The mattress was comfortable and the linen clean, but the accommodation was very basic and smelled bad. There was still tomato sauce on the wall. Our room faced the road, so it was very, very noisy. We booked through booking.com, and the room we got looked nothing like the photos. Such a shame.

The location was convenient, in a nice suburb opposite a park, with plenty of Lime bikes around. Staff were friendly, and my room had a fan and wifi. Even with the drawbacks, I'd stay again because it was cheap and good enough. The money saved on accommodation can go towards Japanese food. The place felt dingy, with halfway-house vibes, and the corridor often smelled of urine or dampness. My bed was hard and the pillows skinny, and there was no aircon. The kitchenette had no tea towels, dish liquid or scrubbers. The shared kitchen was poorly equipped too: no microwave, a rusty electric stovetop that took ages to heat, no sink plugs, and no large bowls for making salad. Bring an eye mask and earplugs if you stay.

It's in a very good location, with public transport right outside: three bus stops cover all parts of the city, and Victoria Cross Metro is just a five-minute walk away. The price is very reasonable and affordable. This isn't a five-star hotel, but the rooms are practical and functional for the cost.

The other residents were very nice, but staff were hard to reach and not very helpful. I woke up covered in bites, then found a cockroach infestation under and behind the bedroom fridge, which kept me from sleeping. There are rats in the kitchens too. Apparently the cleaners do everything except behind the fridge, which seems crazy to me. It's a great place if you don't mind those few things.
