Lidcombe Motor Inn

We went in to ask about room rates and serviced apartments for April 2014, and left wishing we hadn’t bothered. The receptionist was dismissive. He vaguely mentioned the “Easter Show,” which made us think he was keeping rooms open so he could raise the prices later. He acted as if he was checking some pages, but bluntly said no to everything we asked. That first impression was enough. Stay away.

The rooms were generally clean, and the motel is very close to the train station and other facilities. But on two occasions the used towels were left on the floor, and only half the number needed for the room had been left. We had to ask for more both times. The bed making needs work too: on both days the room was tidied, the cover was simply pulled over beds that hadn’t been made. I also had trouble understanding staff at times and found myself repeating things.

The shower was great, which is a rare find these days, and the room itself was good. There was a microwave, toaster and kettle, but no plates or utensils to use with them.

A clean, pleasant room with air conditioning, and the train station is very close. Worked perfectly for events at homebush.
