Nightcap at Hume Hotel

The hotel is okay, but it's locked and unstaffed from 11pm until 10am. I accidentally left my room without the keycard and had to wait hours for staff to arrive. They also hold the $100 deposit for 10 working days, or 14 days, after checkout. Update: it's now been 19 days since they took my security deposit and I still haven't got it back. So the claim that they don't return deposits seems true.

The adjoining pub was nice, and ordering room service from there was convenient. I booked at the last minute and they were very accommodating. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, especially good for the affordable price. Mornings can get a little loud because of the highway.

I've stayed here several times for work. The rooms have been renovated to a high standard, are very clean, and have the most comfortable beds. Even though the hotel is on the Hume Highway, I barely heard traffic, aside from the odd truck. Friendly service, and they make the best pizzas. Highly recommend.

We'd stayed here two years earlier, so the state of the place this time shocked us. We'd prepaid for three nights. On the first night I emailed the hotel about several basic cleanliness problems, then left for my conference. Nobody acted on the email. The floors were disgusting, including the bathroom floor, and there was poo under the toilet seat. The shower drain grill was disgusting, there was no toilet paper, and the bathroom bin was full when we arrived. The amount of dust and generally poor cleaning was awful, though we could live with that. The rooms also get noise from Hume Hiway traffic. Sorry, we won't be back to Nightcaps.
