Nightcap at Regents Park Hotel

My card details were skimmed. This was the only place in Sydney where I used that card, so I wouldn’t stay here.

My partner and I were charged the full amount twice upfront, even though the listing said we’d only pay a $100 deposit. When we raised it, the manager was vague and dismissive, told us to blame Booking.com, and sent us to follow up with the website instead of taking responsibility. Booking.com said the hotel would return the money within 30 days, but nothing came through, which was infuriating. The staff weren’t helpful, and the room’s barricaded windows made it feel more like a prison than a hotel. We wouldn’t recommend Regents Parks Hotel even for one night. The service, communication, and overall comfort were terrible. 1/10.

The room smelled damp and moldy. Paint was peeling badly from the bathroom walls, and there was mold all over the shower floor. Nightcap staff had replied six months earlier that the bathroom was fixed, but the paint seems to be coming off again. It also looks like the option to leave feedback on booking.com has been removed. I chose the hotel because the reviews and photos looked good. On arrival, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and management deserves credit for that.

Being right beside the train station made the location really handy, especially for Sydney Olympic Park. It’s a typical small town pub, which is no bad thing, and the accommodation was great for the price. My room was large and quiet, with a really comfortable bed and a well-equipped bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed tasty food from the hotel bistro with my complimentary drink. Good value, and I’d happily stay again when visiting Sydney.
