Nomads Sydney - Hostel

The people here are what keep me extending my stay. Walking through reception always feels welcoming, and Brit and Ellis remembered me from my first check-ins. They’ve been so friendly ever since and ask how my day went, which I really appreciate. I also like chatting with Lillianna and Calum from Happy Travels at reception, especially when my hostel friends head off on their next trips. For a solo traveller, it’s hard to imagine a friendlier group.

Our six-bed deluxe room was spacious, clean and air conditioned, with everything we needed. The charging ports and lights at each bed were especially handy. There are activities every day, plus a bar next door, so it’s a very social hostel. Elli and Lynzie were great fun, and gave us useful advice for our onward plans through the Happy Travels desk at reception. I’d recommend it.

The location made getting around Sydney easy: Town Hall train station is across the street, the Opera House and bridge are walkable, and there are great coffee shops and a grocery store nearby. At Nomads, the rooms were clean and roomy, and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed, with plenty of fridge and dry storage space. It was my first hostel stay and I had a great time. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about Sydney and Australia, and happy to recommend and book activities. There was some nighttime noise from the nightlife nearby, but earplugs sorted it. Nomads guests also get 20% off meals at Scary Canary next door, which turns into a bar at night with activities like wine and cheese. Thanks for a fantastic stay, I’d recommend it to anyone going to Sydney.

Ellie was the first person I met in Australia, and she made me feel so welcome. She explained how the hostel works, suggested places to see in Sydney, then introduced me to the Happy Travels team, where I booked my west coast trip. The private rooms are clean and really nice, with a big common area for hanging out and meeting people. The bar next door was loud, but it was hard not to laugh and have a good time. Shoutout to the Sydney nomads team!
