Sydney Hyde Park Paxsafe Apartments

The service was lovely from check-in to check-out, and the location made it really easy to get around the city by bus or train. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Big thanks to Rohit, who was quick to sort things out and incredibly helpful whenever we needed anything. The whole team was friendly and welcoming. I'd love to come back and stay again. I stayed in room 904 for a week, and the broken air conditioning left the room at 27c. I spoke to reception about it five times. The first two days, the black hair Asian lady did nothing. After a very hot, sleepless night, I went down on day three and a gentleman at reception was fantastic. He said he'd get it looked at. Maintenance came, switched it off and on, then set it to 12. It still didn't work, and I had another miserable night. I complained again and got the same rubbish promise that someone would be sent. After the fifth and final complaint, I gave up. With constant sirens outside, you can't sleep with the window open. The building sits at a very busy intersection where emergency services go past at all hours. The winds are very thin, and even with them closed the sirens are loud. The room is disgustingly old: the window tint is bubbling and peeling, the carpet is lifting and uneven, the curtains have wear holes, and the TV cabinet was crooked against the wall. In a week, the room was serviced once, and they left only one roll of 2ply toilet paper for one male and four females. Would I stay again? No. My interactions with the Asian reception lady genuinely ruined my visit. The manager was professional, helpful and a great gentleman, but his kindness couldn't make up for such a poorly maintained facility. The treadmill upstairs deserves a 10/10, and the gym is quaint but usable.

The rooftop pool, sauna and spa were the best part of our summer stay. Taking a dip with those stunning city views was a highlight, and the terrace was a lovely place for drinks. Traffic noise did bother us in our one-bedroom apartment. The friendly staff brought fresh towels and complimentary laundry soap when we asked for it for the laundromat on 2F. Thanks for a great stay!

Marko's restaurant downstairs was a good find, with tasty food, fair prices and friendly staff. The reception team were helpful too, especially when they pointed us to a luggage shop after one of our bags needed replacing. The location worked really well: the park is right nearby, Museum station is about a five-minute walk away, and the 333 bus for Bondi Beach is only a couple of minutes away. There’s also an IGA and a Red Bottle within a ten-minute walk. We liked the rooftop pool and gym, and our park-facing room had a great view of the city lights at night. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had what we needed, but the room felt a bit worn. The dishwasher was out of order, the air conditioning was noisy, and the windows needed replacing. That’s why we couldn’t give Oaks Sydney Hyde Park Suites five stars. We would stay again.
