Michelle made us feel like old friends as soon as we met at check-in. She went above and beyond, and we left as friends after arriving as guests. She'd already been incredibly helpful by email, so we called her instead. She was lovely, knowledgeable and full of good advice. We spent two nights at Palais Royale in a king Executive room. It was immaculate and well appointed, with quality carpet and soft furnishings. The hotel's old world decor was a delight, and we enjoyed spending time in this family-owned place. It was great value and within walking distance of most major attractions.
Being able to leave the car at the hotel and walk to the main tracks and Scenic World was a real plus. Driving there was chaotic during the school holidays, and parking was very expensive. I checked, and it was $48 for two hours. Restaurants and shops were just a 50 m walk away, though the hotel itself was quiet and had off street parking. It's a beautiful historic hotel, with cosy, clean rooms, original leadlight windows and a luxurious bed. I enjoyed a drink and nibblies on the small balcony, joined by friendly cockatoos. Inside, the lounge and bar had a fireplace, and it was a lovely place to have a drink and read. The staff were friendly and helpful. I've already recommended the Palais to friends and family visiting the Blue Mountains this year. Thank you.
The central location made it easy to walk everywhere, and the area itself was quiet. The communal spaces are beautiful and have a lovely atmosphere. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, and the simple continental breakfast included helped with the budget.
We've been staying at the palais since 2020, at least 10 times, and love it. It's very central, service has always been great, and we enjoy getting a drink at the bar and spending time in the lounge areas. The rooms are spacious, and if you get the right one, the view is beautiful. My one small gripe is that our loyalty has never been acknowledged. It isn't necessary, since we keep coming back, but a complimentary drink or an upgrade would be a lovely gesture. Those little touches are what make hospitality feel great. I do recommend a stay here, it's lovely!
Being so close to the Blue Mountains is a plus. The lobby felt cosy and nice in the morning with natural light, and breakfast was continental, just bread and cereal with no hot food, but okay. The room lighting was very dim, which made the place feel uncomfortable. It's an old building, and the room layout isn't square, making it hard to move around, especially with suitcases open. The carpet's colour and cleanliness were questionable, so I might not come back. Better lighting would make a big difference.
