Peg Leg Darling Harbour

The location is good, and the room was very cheap, but the standard has really fallen since I first stayed in 2019. I came back in January 2023. It was always a budget, no-frills place, yet the cleanliness of both rooms and facilities has declined a lot. The TV had no remote, and the window was stuck open, so outside noise kept me from sleeping.

The room was clean when we arrived, and the staff were friendly. We could leave our bags in the room early before check-in, and having the door codes sent straight to my phone was convenient. After dropping off our bags, I never saw staff again, so there was no one on site to contact when we found the TV had no remote and there was no Wi-Fi. Neither was a huge deal, but the room was showing its age, with peeling paint. It’s a shame, given how beautiful the old building is.

Very cheap accommodation in a good location, and fine if all you need is somewhere to sleep. The building is very old, and the bathroom and toilet need better organisation and more privacy. There’s no kitchen, elevator, receptionist or air conditioning. The customer service was good, though. The owner or manager listened to what I asked for. I’d give the facilities two and a half stars, but the service is why I gave five.

The location is the only good thing here. Our bathroom ceiling was crumbling and covered in mould, and the fan and light broke on the first night. I had a decent bed, but the bunks were awful, so don’t count on a full night’s sleep. The foyer smelled like urine.
