Rozelle Hostel

After reading the reviews, we expected much worse, but our five nights in the 12-bed dorm were totally fine and good value for the price. The room seemed recently renovated, with sturdy beds, big lockers and enough space. The manager was super friendly and in a good mood; he let us leave our bags early on the first day and didn’t mind us checking out a bit late on the last. Maybe he’s changed how he acts, or maybe some guests haven’t behaved properly, but we had no problems with him. The bathrooms could be cleaned a bit more often, though it wasn’t too bad. Honestly, I think this place gets way too much hate.

We booked two nights through booking.com. While we were on our way, the manager emailed us saying the minimum stay was three nights and told us to cancel to get our money back. We followed his instructions and cancelled, but the refund never came as promised. Now the manager isn’t answering our messages.

This place is inhuman. It smells bad, it’s dirty, there’s no room in the fridge and the toilets are nasty. A public toilet would be better. I wish I could give it zero stars. Don’t come here, mate. You save some money because it’s cheap, but you can’t stay.

The hygiene here is practically nonexistent. The bathrooms are disgusting, dirtier than toilets in even the worst nightclubs.
