Ryde Inn

We’re from Darwin and booked ten days while I had an operation and day appointments at Concord Hospital. We stayed in the long stay rooms, and the rates were extremely excellent for the area. The room was comfortable, with a new bathroom, and room service was excellent. Reception staff were always professional and helpful. We ate at the restaurant most nights and the food was great, though it isn’t open for dinner on weekends. Special thanks to Lisa for fabulous service when we were so far from home. Buses and then a ferry got us to places like the zoo and cockatoo island, and there was bus service to local shops too. Thank you.

The place was clean, spacious and very nice. Breakfast was just $22, with bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, croissant, toast, tea, coffee and juice. I stayed one night while in Sydney for an event, and I’d definitely stay again.

The room and beds were clean, but the bathroom needed mould treatment and probably resealing around the showers. There was a fair bit of traffic noise and noise from other rooms, so despite the hotel’s four-star rating, I’d put it closer to three stars. What bothered me most was seeing some young people doing drugs in the carpark. It was very dark when I got back at midnight. More lighting might deter this activity in that area.

The place smelled of cigarettes, the air conditioning was hopeless, and the room had stains on the carpet and tiles plus gaping holes in the bathroom. The fridge kept freezing everything even on its lowest setting. I paid for a 2 p.m. late checkout, but when we returned at 12:30 p.m. we were locked out. The food was bad too. The supposed chicken and vegetable stir-fry had frozen chicken and only beans, cauliflower and onion as vegetables. When you ask for table water, they bring it warm from the tap in a plastic 1970 jug. There was no cold water at breakfast or dinner. Don’t stay here, go up the road to the select inn for nicer rooms and service.
