Shangri-La Sydney

At the Shangri-La, the service was warm, proactive, and accommodating throughout, from check-in and housekeeping to concierge recommendations. The room views were fantastic, and comfort and quality felt comparable to the Park Hyatt Sydney at a much more reasonable price. I found it hard to justify the large price gap when the Shangri-La delivered such good service and comfort. If getting good value matters, I’d absolutely recommend it. I stayed at both the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney and the Park Hyatt Sydney on my trip. The Park Hyatt is undeniably luxurious, right on the harbor, with elegant rooms and an exclusive feel. Still, for its nightly rate, I expected more attentiveness and a better service experience. Both properties are beautiful, but I personally felt the Shangri-La offered far better overall value.

We stayed at the Shangri-la for our wedding, and the room and view were exceptional. When we returned on our wedding night, the staff had left a lovely message, balloons, cake, and Champagne. Such a generous treat. We also hosted wedding drinks at the Blu-bar. While we were taking photos, staff kept the wedding party fed and watered, and they were fantastic. A wonderful hotel, especially for a special celebration. Thanks, Shangri-la team.

The view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge right in front of the room was unbeatable, and breakfast stood out as much better than at other 5-star hotels I've stayed at. F&B staff and concierge gave exceptional service even when busy. Getting there without a car means a steep climb from Circular Quay with lots of stairs, so I'd suggest driving or taking an Uber. The room was spacious and comfortable, as you'd expect in an older hotel. The furniture felt dated rather than classic, and cleanliness seemed a bit lacking for a 5-star hotel.

Our family of six fit comfortably across two large, beautiful rooms, and the hotel felt very family friendly. We were upgraded to a room with a great view of the opera house, and felt really special. At breakfast, the buffet food was sensational. From check-in onward we were treated so kindly. The front desk gave the kids caramels, and because we were celebrating our son's birthday, they left birthday cakes in our rooms. We'd never had that happen at a hotel before. The staff made our first time in Australia so memorable. We have so many good things to say about the stay, and would happily return. Thank you!
