We stayed at The Eve Hotel for my sister's birthday, and she had a really special time, thanks to Joseph. Louise gave us a lovely welcome at check-in, Shiv took great care of us that evening, and Karen at the pool was pure sunshine. Everyone we met was warm and lovely. The hotel is gorgeous, with beautiful spaces and facilities. We took a Pilates class, then spent hours by the pool with food and drinks from Lottie and Messina. Bars and restaurants are nearby, but the hotel still feels like a dreamy escape. We've stayed at Capella, Crown, Ace Hotel, and Oxford House, all beautiful in their own way, but the service here is on another level. Nowhere compares. If I could move in, I would. Thanks for making the weekend unforgettable. We'll be back again and again.

The EVE feels more like a calm urban sanctuary than a typical hotel, with a retro-chic residential style and casual staff uniforms that fit the home-like mood. There are lots of access controls and keys for different areas, including the rooftop pool, which gave me a sense of security. The reception is almost like a living room, with two small minimalist counters and lots of seats. Check-in was quick after I registered by WhatsApp, and the welcome was kind without any fuss. Staff kept disturbances to a minimum. I also appreciated the email the night before check-out, with the option to leave my key in the room and settle the bill in advance. The room felt warm and full of character, with a quiet, comfortable sofa and a spacious balcony that seats four. Good storage, a proper bench for luggage, and blinds and curtains controlled at the touch of a button were thoughtful touches. I liked the built-in bathroom bin that closes like a drawer, which hides it away and feels hygienic, and the greenery outside made a pleasant view. The sink was a bit small. The in-room dining menu was limited, with no salad, soup, or many light options. Cushions for the outdoor seats would add comfort. The communal filtered water tap in the corridor was handy, though I missed having sparkling water in the minibar. The quiet pool was a relaxing spot. Its music stayed in the background rather than making it feel like a party. Service was great, water jugs were refilled constantly, and complimentary sunscreen was available if you forgot yours. Poolside food got a little boring, since the Mexican bowls all had the same ingredients apart from the protein. More variety would be nice. Bar Julius had a decent wine list and wasn't overpriced, with a relaxed late-afternoon atmosphere where some people were working too. I didn't have time to try the Greek restaurant, though I've heard good things. The property feels calming in its design and atmosphere, and it's easy to see why its first Michelin Key is deserved. I've been to Sydney many times and don't need the tourist attractions, so The EVE is a good option for a quiet stay with city centre access at an affordable Uber ride. I'd definitely consider coming back.

The neighbourhood is easy to get around on foot, and the L train is nearby. We loved our stay at Eve and will book again. The hotel was gorgeous and well maintained, with easy-to-use tech in the rooms and really luxurious bath products. The rooftop pool was very clean and a lovely place to spend an afternoon. Everyone was welcoming from the moment we arrived.

The rooms look good, but as my husband said, “the emperor has no clothes.” We paid over $1,000 per night for two adjoining rooms, more than $2,000 a night total, and it didn't feel close to five stars. There was no gym. Julius isn't part of the hotel, so guests don't get priority for drinks, and food isn't available there after 10pm. After the opera, we couldn't get room service, which was really disappointing. The pool area itself is nice, but it's full of hair, and they should require guests to tie their hair up. Staff at the pool were friendly; most of the others just looked at us. The security guard walking around also made the entrance feel off-putting rather than welcoming. Food choices were limited and very expensive for what you get. Our poolside cocktails were okay, but a small margarita cost $30. There was no real vibe, just a nice-looking place like a page from AD. The hallways were full of people taking photos who weren't even guests. I'd rather stay closer to the city and get proper five-star service for a lot less.

The rooms are compact, so it may not be ideal for a long stay or if you need a lot of space. For a few nights, though, the bed and quality of the finishes more than made up for that. The architecture is striking, and the thoughtful detailing carries through the public spaces. Modern but not cold, it's the kind of hotel where you want to spend time in the lobby and corridors. Service was outstanding throughout. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive without hovering, and seemed genuinely interested in making the stay work. The atmosphere felt considered and welcoming, never rushed or corporate. It's a very good hotel, and I'd recommend staying here.
