We'd just come out of the theatre and stopped at The Grand Hotel for a quiet drink. We were calm, dressed nicely, and completely sober, but the bouncer refused us a drink without explaining why. We politely asked for a reason and got no answer, not even a vague explanation, just a blank stare. If customers are going to be turned away, there should be enough professionalism to explain it. The lack of transparency and basic courtesy was embarrassing. It felt like a power trip. There are plenty of nearby venues that want our business, so we'll spend our money there instead.

This is a good spot for a proper pub feel, and it's our regular after work hangout. It gets busy, so booking a table ahead is a good idea. The happy hour food and drinks are worth the price, especially the chicken wings and squid.

I came with my sister and family. My sister is 17 and wasn't drinking anything, not even water. We bought drinks, then staff told us we'd have to leave once we finished them. They were rude and unwelcoming, and only made us leave after we'd bought the drinks. The beer was shit too.

Stopped by The Grand Hotel for a quick cold drink while exploring Sydney. Nice pub atmosphere, just right for a short break.

Nice place, good location, but would I stay again? No. There was soiled linen left in the hallway. For anyone who doesn't know, that's dirty bedsheets, towels, and blankets left in a bag waiting to be collected.
