The location was the only positive for me. I was glad I managed to find somewhere else in the middle of the night after arriving. I checked in, looked around, and booked an Airbnb right away. The upkeep felt terrible and unhygienic. I was uncomfortable enough that I wouldn't even take my shoes off, and I'm not a boujee traveller.

I came for surgery from interstate and only needed somewhere quiet and comfortable until I could fly home, not anything high-end. The reception staff were helpful and accommodating at check-in. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were cleanish, but there were some real issues. The balcony roof was falling apart in more than 10 places, so it didn't feel safe to sit outside. You could hear everyone's shower, and ours went cold halfway through a long shower. I couldn't rush because I was recovering, so getting out shivering from freezing water was miserable. The doors were very heavy and hard to open, and our lock was dodgy. If you're staying for surgery, it's worth booking an apartment for the extra space. The views are just rooftops and the tops of other buildings, nothing special.

Our room was dusty, and we saw bed bugs crawling on the pillows and blankets. The carpet was very worn and smelled mouldy. The building feels old and badly repurposed, with little effort put into comfort or cleanliness. The door was especially worrying, thin as paper with a flimsy lock like one you'd find on a bedroom inside a house. We felt unsafe enough to barricade it with a table at night. Google presents this so-called hotel as four-star, which is incredibly misleading. I would absolutely give zero stars if I could. Don't waste your money.

The kitchenette was well equipped, and the rooms looked nice enough. The furnishings weren't anything special, but they were comfortable. The balcony was basically unusable because pigeons roosted on the next-door building's window sills, making noise and rooting around all day and most of the night. If you leave the balcony louvres open, they'll roost on the air-conditioning unit too. It doesn't feel sanitary. The neighbouring building has about 50 window sills, each with a pigeon, and the droppings are an inch deep. Veriu should complain to the council about it. It's disgusting and must be affecting the business.
