Vibe Hotel Sydney

The location was good, and the service and breakfast were both really good. The room was massive, which was a nice change, and clean, though it could use repainting. The bathroom felt a bit outdated. The bed was comfortable, but it was two singles pushed together. The pillows were really nice.

I was here for a work trip and really enjoyed the stay. The buffet breakfast was tasty, and the location is hard to beat if you have work or travel plans in Central Sydney. My room was generously sized and had great amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful, and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

The rooftop had lovely city views, but the facilities looked tired and clearly need renovation. The sauna had a giant padlock on it, which staff hadn’t mentioned when they pointed me that way. Front desk staff were polite, including a friendly trainee who was still learning. They shared a couple of useful tips, along with a few inaccuracies. Breakfast was included, convenient, and perfectly fine to start the day. I was in the Vibe Hotel Sydney on Goulburn Street for a couple of nights for a conference. The room was neat, tidy, and surprisingly spacious for the price, with more comfort than I expected. The location was reasonable, a short walk from plenty of options, though the building’s unusual shape made it tricky for even the taxi driver to spot. The booking process was odd. At first I couldn’t get a room for my dates, but when I checked later there was no problem. The gentleman running the conference also couldn’t get a room for those same nights, despite availability not seeming to be an issue. It’s not a luxury stay, but it does the basics well and is good value for Sydney. I’d rate it around 3.5-4 stars: spacious, tidy rooms; polite but inconsistent service; clean, functional facilities overall; and a handy location once you know where you’re going.

Getting around was easy from this great location, and the airport was only 20-30 minutes away. But the room and service didn’t live up to the location. After checking out, we were charged for a bottle of water and chocolate bar we hadn’t consumed. The hotel refunded it, but because the charge went onto my card, I was left with a transaction fee I can’t get back. We’d booked a twin room for three people with an extra bed included. When we got back from dinner, it wasn’t set up. The front desk said housekeeping was about to finish at 9pm and couldn’t arrange it. We were fine setting up the sofa bed ourselves, but the bedding they sent was missing a blanket. They then said housekeeping had left and couldn’t bring one up. Only after we said we could collect it from the desk did they change their mind and offer to send it. The room looked clean at a glance, but seemed worn up close. Only the hot faucet worked at the sink, the bathtub didn’t look well maintained, and the sofa bed mattress had stains. The front desk staff were polite, but the room, staff training, and staffing level didn’t feel like those of a 4-star hotel. Honestly, not a great experience.
