View Sydney ( North Sydney Harbourview Hotel)

From our floor, it looked like every room had a view of the Harbour Bridge, whatever room you had. You can also hear and feel a slight shudder when trains pass through the underground line directly beneath the building. It didn’t bother us. It’s a general note, and not really something the hotel can improve, so I didn’t think it belonged in the star rating. Otherwise, it was a typical good hotel stay. Nothing fancy, just the usual things done very well: a clean, tidy room with all the essentials, and lovely staff. I ran into a few of them, and they were all polite and helpful.

The views were beautiful, and the hotel is perfectly placed for public transport. I’d recommend including breakfast. They forgot to replenish our toilet paper and soap, though we should have asked. I didn’t mind the trains rumbling by. It was like white noise and actually helped me fall asleep.

The Harbour Bridge view was the highlight, and the location made it easy to get around, with North Sydney Station and Victoria Cross metro station nearby. Our room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was good. The welcome felt polite and professional but very by the book, without much warmth. The first impression of the room was disappointing. The interior felt dated and not very clean, especially the carpet, which needs attention. Single-glazed windows meant we could clearly hear trains passing through the night, which hurt the comfort of the stay. There’s a great view and convenient location, but the hotel feels tired and could use a serious refresh.

The staff were professional and courteous, and the service was first rate. There are spacious rooms at different price points, with amazing views across the Harbour to Sydney city. North Sydney’s shops are okay, I guess, but that’s no problem when the hotel is only a two-minute train ride from the CBD. Terrific hotel, well done.
