Vulcan Hotel Sydney

A nice, clean hotel that was reasonably comfortable, though there was some traffic noise. Breakfast was a decent continental spread and included in the stay. The location worked well for exploring Broadway and Chippendale, and the fish markets were a 15-minute walk away.

We had lots of room and two queen beds, which we loved. Breakfast was a pretty basic continental offering, and we paid the hostess extra for specialty coffees like lattes and flat whites. The neighbourhood was quiet, near UTS, and Chinatown and the city trams were an easy walk away.

The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. After I spilled red wine on the bed, they changed it within 10 minutes, and they also looked after our luggage. We arrived early and were checked in straight away. Our room had an old-fashioned but charming feel, was spotless, and had air conditioning. The bathroom was spotless too, with a great shower. Breakfast wasn’t cooked, but we liked the buffet of yoghurt, fruit, cheese, ham, and different breads. The family-run hotel is in Ultimo, about a 5-10 minute walk from Paddy’s market, which is well worth visiting for souvenirs. Circular Quay is around 30-40 minutes away, and there are plenty of trams from George st beside Paddy’s market. It’s a short ride from the airport. I’d happily recommend Vulcan hotel. We spent more than a week here and everything went smoothly. The room was a good size for all our luggage, and the staff were really nice and helpful. It’s very convenient for a Sydney visit, just a few minutes from the centre, Central Station, and bus stops.
