Wynyard Hotel

The rump steak was cooked just right, medium rare, juicy, well seasoned and with a lovely sear. The chips had crisp outsides and soft middles, and the salad was fresh with a nice dressing. We also got buffalo wings, which were moist inside with a decent crisp outside and not too saucy. Really solid lunch, I’d come back.

For the $80 I paid, this was great value for a night during a flight layover. The location is handy for everything, and the train is very close and easy to reach from the airport. It can be a little noisy, but the bed was comfortable, the shared kitchen was clean, and there was communal cereal and fruit. The staff were friendly too.

The hotel was nice and clean, and at $50 for one night it was incredible value. There’s no lift, but the fan was cool enough in March. I could see they’d made a lot of improvements in response to complaints in old reviews. The street was bouncy, though the bar wasn’t noisy. After walking around the city all day, I think you’d be too tired to hear it anyway. The bar had a good vibe and the food smelled good, but I already had dinner plans, so I didn’t eat there. I’ll try it next time.

Had a few drinks and watched the baseball game here. Pretty nice hotel, with friendly staff and a good environment.
