Amberoo Apartments

We had a really stressful experience with Amberoo Apartments Tamworth. They charged us more than they should have, then sent a revised statement saying the extra amount would be refunded straight away. Nearly two months later, I had to dispute it with my bank so they would follow up with Amberoo. The place itself was very old and tired. Our shower screen wouldn't close, the unit would be lucky to rate two stars, and management seemed nonexistent. They took our money more than a month before the booking, but sorting out the overcharge became a major hassle. I'd recommend staying elsewhere. If Amberoo is your only option in Tamworth, pitch a tent on Peel River bank. Less stressful.

Our booking with Amberoo Apartments in Tamworth was cancelled just four days before we were due to arrive, after one of our two rooms had already been cancelled months earlier. The explanation was a supposed "technical issue," and there was no real effort to fix things or help us find an alternative during a busy period. We'd booked a year ahead, so this left us with very little time. Completely unreliable and unprofessional. Avoid if your plans matter to you.

The way we were treated after our room was cancelled was horrific. We had booked a weekend for a surprise 80th birthday party for my parents, and found out just over a week beforehand that the hotel said significant storm damage meant the room was cancelled. This was during a weekend with around eight major sporting events, when accommodation was scarce. Getting our refund was difficult and unpleasant. The office attendant, 'BOB', was rude, overbearing, and acted like a bully. It wasn't our cancellation, but the way they handled it ruined a weekend we can never get back. I don't trust or recommend this hotel.

A week before our stay, they cancelled our accommodation, saying it was due to a ‘technical issue’. We had to find somewhere else at a higher cost. I can't say how genuine that reason was, but there are earlier complaints about double bookings, so where there's smoke, there's fire. Avoid.
