Bring your own linen and blankets. Some websites don’t mention that, and we found out the hard way 🤦♀️❤️. The place feels rustic but it’s so beautiful, and being there is a complete disconnect from the world. The caretakers go way beyond what they need to do for guests and look after the grounds too. It’s such a peaceful place. I can’t recommend currango homestead enough, and I’ll definitely stay again.

The grounds are lovely, with plenty to explore, and the outdoor BBQ and other facilities were great. We were five, though it sleeps nine. The homestead in the Snowy Mountains is clean and feels authentic. We arrived just before dark to find the caretaker had lit the fire, so it was warm and toasty.

The Pines at Currango Homestead has very basic living and minimal amenities, which is exactly why I like it. I think it used to be the homestead’s single men’s quarters. Built in the late 1800s, Currango still has its period charm. We stay there for 4-5 days when fishing on Tantangara. If it sounds interesting, get in touch with NSW National Parks.
