Tropical Lodge

We’d booked a room for two days months ahead and paid a deposit of one day in advance. When we arrived, we were told the motel had been sold, no longer operated as a motel, and no longer went by the name InnisfailTropical Lodge. The previous owners hadn’t contacted us or returned the deposit. A dance festival was on in town, so finding another place was very difficult. Thankfully we got the last available cabin at the local caravan park. I spoke with several local businesses, and none had anything complimentary to say about the people who previously owned the motel. DON’T even try to book a room at Innisfail Tropical Lodge.

The outdoor lounge was irresistible this morning, especially with a free cuppa. There are laundry and kitchen facilities too. Great customer service, and the rooms are clean and tidy without being terribly expensive. The place has a new and maintained look about it.

It felt like a home away from home, and the prices were a bargain compared with what you’d get at a bagpackers. The staff and manager were all so helpful and friendly. I was greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome almost straight away. The room was always clean and had a fridge and TV, and the bed and pillow were better than at any hostels I’d stayed in before. There was Wi-Fi throughout, a flat screen TV in the lounge, a pool table, and free tea and coffee. The laundry and kitchen area had everything I needed, including filtered water, and the whole area was kept very clean. I always felt welcome. I love this place and will definitely be back. Thanks for being so helpful and making me feel at home.

We had to find somewhere else to stay, which was almost impossible because accommodation was booked out for the dance festival. We managed to get the last cabin at the local caravan park. This establishment is no longer in business as a motel. They took a deposit of one day’s accommodation when we booked but didn’t tell us when they sold it, and never returned our deposit. DO NOT BOOK HERE!
