The Lodge room was excellent, with a very clean, comfortable king bed and a huge bathroom. It had a spa bath, large shower, heated towel rail and floor, plus a kitchenette and ironing board. Breakfast was included, with yoghurt and granola, fresh fruit, pastries, four hot meal choices, fresh orange juice and coffee. The enormous lounge has a log fire, an honesty bar with beer, wine and spirits, and a whisky range that will blow your mind. We returned to Tarraleah for our wedding anniversary and chose the Lodge instead of one of the houses this time. Lunch at the Cafe and dinner at the Highlander Restaurant are both an easy walk from the accommodation. The food is excellent and the service just as good. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, and nothing was a problem. For a weekend away, we can't recommend Tarraleah enough. There are Highland Cows to visit, a golf course and lots of excellent walks. Accommodation also includes the original workers' houses, the old school building, lakeside cabins, and caravan and camping options. It's a great place to break up the drive from Hobart to Strahan.

The meals themselves were pretty good, but the bistro seemed to have run out of quite a few things, and it was the only lunch and dinner option. Check-in was frustrating: I had to go to the bistro for help, management were very unfriendly, and the keys were left in an envelope outside reception, 300 metres from the lodge. The instructions said to call if we needed anything, but only before 6pm. Breakfast was included, though it was several notches below an average roadhouse, at a cafe that also served the caravan park. For a five-star facility, the service felt two-star. It was very disappointing, especially given the price.

A fantastic place to get away from absolutely everything, with first-rate hospitality. Ashley was a great host and took care of everything for us.

We only dealt with the restaurant and café staff, and everyone was friendly. The food was delicious. Our room in the lodge was marvelous, and the accessible room they gave us worked perfectly for Dad, who has limited mobility. We stayed one night. The lodge is a little out of the way, but it made an ideal halfway stop between Hobart and Strahan. Thanks for having us!
