BIG4 Tasman Holiday Parks - Tathra Beach

The park was beautifully maintained, and the location was handy for shops and places to eat. We stayed in Polynesian Cabin 6 on 24 Feb. It was exceptionally clean, and we were warmly welcomed. The price felt affordable for the amenities, and there was even an iron, a bonus. 10 out of 10. Sincere thanks to Team Tathra!

The beds were so uncomfortable that we didn't sleep, and we had to make up the bunks ourselves, sheets and all. Why charge extra for a child if I'm making every bed? The ensuite cabin needs updating. The pool was locked overnight and was meant to open at 8am. At 9:15 I went to management and was told, “yeah will get to it when i can”. The same thing happened the next morning, so the kids couldn't swim despite us paying for them. At 4:45pm, management yelled at the kids to get off their bikes because the street lights were on, even though it was still daylight. They weren't making noise, and the park wasn't especially busy. Then our toilet wouldn't flush. I told management, who said he'd look at it but acted as if it was our fault. We won't be back.

There was a TV in the lounge and another in the second bedroom, and the cabin had a large yard at both the front and back. But the grass looked like it hadn't been cut for a while. The lounge wasn't comfortable either, its cushion just collapsed when I sat down, and I'm not a big person. The bed was the worst part. After a long day travelling, I felt like I was on a slippery dip all night because the mattress had no support. I put pillows under it the next morning and found that the slats on one side were on the floor. I couldn't see how the domestic staff could make the bed with the sheets tucked under the mattress without noticing. Management suggested the slats might have fallen after the bed was made. When I said that seemed unlikely, he just said, “well sorry about that.” Later he came by and suggested switching to a different slat base. Kangaroo House 3 bedroom Cabin is big enough for six family members or three couples. The kitchen gear is very basic, with little crockery, cutlery, pans and utensils. I've stayed in plenty of holiday cabins that were more comfortable and better equipped, so I wouldn't recommend this one for a comfortable stay.

Our cabin was warm and ready when we got in late from Sydney, and the staff left us helpful information about dog-friendly places to take the pups. The team at Big4 Tathra were so accommodating when we booked at the last minute with our two dogs. We're really thankful. Thanks for having us!
