The food came quickly and was tasty, and the pub is kid friendly, with outdoor tables and a playground. But they need night security. On Saturday 21st Feb, a drunk guy kept banging on hotel room doors and trying to break into rooms until after 4am. We were terrified, especially with our 2 year old there. That’s not acceptable.

We come here every year to eat when we’re in Hawks Nest for our annual holiday. It’s a great location with a lovely atmosphere and decent pub food. The chicken Asian Salad needs work, though. It was way too salty and full of gristle, so it wasn’t pleasant to eat.

The rooms looked recently refurbished and were lovely inside. It’s a great little hotel in the middle of town, close to a beautiful walk by the water. Being attached to the pub meant it was a little noisy until everyone went home, and the road through town is right behind it. Not ideal if you’re a light sleeper.

There’s always somewhere to sit, even when it’s busy, and it’s a great place to get a meal. The pub has plenty of meal choices. I just wish they offered rib eyes or New York strip instead of rump.

It’s right by Myall Lake, with jetties and a walking track nearby. There’s a cute playground for little ones, plus a bistro and cafe out front. Even though it’s inside the pub, it wasn’t noisy at all.
