The Entrance Backpackers - Hostel

We arrived around 6pm for our one night booking and were told at the door that it was overbooked. I’d already paid, and I’m pretty sure they would have sent us away without help if I hadn’t insisted. They said they’d messaged me in advance, but I checked all my email addresses, spam, and booking messages and found nothing. After I kept pressing, he called the owner. She was somewhat apologetic, but continued to say a message had been sent, even though I never got one. We weren’t even allowed inside to check what was happening, and were left outside in the heat with our huge backpacks. Since it was Saturday, finding another hotel at the last minute was extremely difficult. We had to drive an hour to find somewhere else. Completely unacceptable, very poor customer service.

It feels safe and secure, with clear rules that keep things organised and respectful. This isn’t a party hostel. You can relax, meet people in a welcoming setting, and feel at home. The place is spotlessly clean and well maintained. If you want good value in The Entrance with a warm, well-run atmosphere, I’d highly recommend it.

I had a relaxed stay for my last couple of weeks in Australia. Thanks, Tanya, for making me feel welcome and for the weekly rate. The hostel is clean and has a nice, fully equipped kitchen. Just be aware of the no alcohol policy, though that wasn’t a problem for me. The location is very convenient, close to shops, the bus stop, and restaurants. I’ll be back one day. 👏

For a one night stay, it had everything I needed. Friendly staff, good security, air con, clean bathrooms, and a nice kitchen and common room.
