The lemon, lime and bitters was lovely, and the place itself still had a nice atmosphere. But I hadn’t been back for over five years, and the food was unfortunately a letdown. My steak sandwich was very average: the bottom bun fell apart straight away, the top was rock hard, and I ended up eating just the meat while it crumbled everywhere. I remembered this place being awesome, so I was very disappointed. It was busy, with the pub across the road now closed.

The Caesar salad Trinity recommended was delicious. All the staff were super friendly and helpful when I stopped in for lunch today, especially Trinity behind the bar. 10/10 service, cheers!

We sat out on the back lawn on a sunny Sunday afternoon because we had our dog with us. The beef nachos and fries were great, and lunch didn’t disappoint. It was very busy, and we didn’t mind waiting a little longer for food because of staff shortages. We’ll come back for another visit.

There’s a good choice of drinks, plenty of menu options including vegetarian dishes, and the staff are friendly. I’ve been here for lunch and dinner with friends or family a few times. The Avon River is right behind the Hotel, and parking is at the back, around the sides, or along the street. If you have mobility needs, I’d recommend using the front entrance to avoid the stairs.
