Flashpackers Hervey Bay Hostel

Roksana was so kind after checkout. I’d left something behind, and she went out of her way to mail it back to me. I really appreciated that. My private room was clean and comfortable, and the price felt fantastic for the quality. I had a great stay at Hervey Bay Flashpackers and would happily return or recommend it to anyone visiting Hervey Bay.

The facilities were a real plus: a big kitchen with free breakfast, a pool, table tennis and a cinema room. It’s near the bus service and tourist attractions such as k’gari, though the bus only takes cash. They can also drop you at Greyhound stops for a fee, which was helpful. The fan in our room was clean, and the beach was close enough that we saw dolphins. The room itself was very basic and damp. Water seemed to run down the walls and wet the furniture, and the pillows were already damp when we arrived. The AC schedule is fixed, from 5pm to 6am, which seemed odd and may have contributed to the dampness. There was mould on the shower curtain. We had to strip the bedding, which was fine, but it exposed stains on the sheets and pillows. There weren’t any of the usual bathroom minis like shampoo or shower gel. The amenities made up for the room to some extent, but the room was just okay.

The bus stop nearby made getting around easy, and they can also take you to the Greyhound stop, which came in handy. Staff were really friendly, the room was nice and clean, and breakfast in the morning was free. I really liked the hostel.

Those waffles at breakfast were amazing! The whole team was lovely, and Marion was especially attentive to all the little details. The kitchen and rooms were cleaned each day, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The shuttle was really useful too. I was very comfortable here. One thing that could be better in the hot summer is cooler AC in the rooms, though the fan helped.
