Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park

The amenities were fine and had hot water, and the beach is accessible from the park. There’s also a good pub across the road. But our caravan site was in the permanent campers’ area, with no sullage pits and not a blade of grass. The sites were roomy enough, though dusty and bare, with lots of trees to manoeuvre around. I expected better in Torquay. I’ve stayed in much better caravan parks in small country towns, and we won’t be coming back.

The beachside location is amazing, but it costs too much for what you get, and I wouldn’t stay again. My tent site sloped and was bare dirt over half its area. My family’s very expensive cabin wasn’t clean when they arrived. The men’s toilets stank of urine. I know that’s down to users and it’s a busy park, but other places seem to manage it. I was squeezed right beside another camp, close enough to hear your neighbour change their mind. Not enjoyable.

The price was good and the amenities were great. I stayed two nights on a powered site in a very large park, close to cafes and restaurants. There’s a gate straight through to the beach, and incredible Bells beach isn’t far away. I’ll definitely visit again.

The cabins need maintenance, and running out of gas for two days is just not acceptable for the premium rate we paid. We rented a two-bedroom cabin and had no hot water or cooking facilities, since the stove was gas. We wanted to leave, but they wouldn’t guarantee any refund. We got one text a day into the gas problem and then nothing. We were left in the lurch, with no offer of compensation, and staff seemed not to care. It ruined our holiday. The cabin also had a broken security door that wouldn’t close, a broken heater, a TV remote needing new batteries, and a bathroom sink plug that wouldn’t hold water. Other couples staying in cabins were treated poorly over parking. They’d rented two-bedroom cabins for two couples, then were told on arrival they had to pay for two cars beside the unit. Staff also said you’d be charged $75 extra if you didn’t leave by 10am checkout on the dot. We understand checkout and parking policies, but the way they were communicated, and the way staff spoke to them, wasn’t acceptable. Be wary. The location makes the place look nice, but the service was poor.
