Comfort Inn Trawool

The restaurant was a highlight. Wild Water has big windows looking out over the views, and our waitress was friendly. The food was fairly ordinary, though. The pool was fine but nothing special. We booked two nights for a weekend because the building looked beautiful, and it really is striking, with nice surroundings. The room was a reasonable size and in average condition. The shower water turned cold for a minute or two before warming up again. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived. A staff member had to set up the minibar, and the outdoor table and chairs were still inside. There were dead flies and bugs on the floor and bed, so we weren't sure how thoroughly it had been cleaned. We had arrived about half an hour early, so it didn't bother us too much. The reception staff didn't make us feel welcome, either at check-in or check-out. The hotel was alright, but a warmer welcome would have improved the stay. I'd give it 6 out of 10.

The ceremony setup across the road made a lovely backdrop, and the staged area itself was well arranged. Getting there was harder for ladies in heels, older guests, or anyone not driven across. Parking on that side was limited, and the walk from the main Trawool estate building was a fair distance along an unpaved path. We were there for a wedding and stayed overnight. The room was spacious and service was generally good. One staff member seemed to struggle with the pressure of the wedding crowd, but otherwise the service was good.

Christmas lunch with the family was fantastic. The food was plentiful for a fixed price seating, and even the teenage boys left full. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The resort looked very nice, though we didn't stay there. I'm sure I'll be back to spend more time.

The staff were lovely and the location was nice, but the meal was a real letdown. Even though the place was quiet, the food took a while to arrive. The chicken Kievs were overcooked, and the pork was overcooked too. The seafood linguine smelled acidic, as if the seafood had gone off, so we sent it back. After the long drive, we were very dissatisfied. We left without eating much of what we'd received.
