We stayed in room 1 and found it very practical for a simple overnight stop. The queen bed was comfortable, and there was a dining space, fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave, and a nice bathroom with a heat lamp for cold nights. We could hear the occasional truck at night because it's on the main road, but being behind the Tavern kept it from being too bad. This is only a review of the accommodation, as we didn't eat at the Tavern. We'd stay again when we come to defend the forest. Stop Native Forest Logging. MMG GET OUT OF TAKAYNA!

The local tips from the super friendly owners, Di & Joe, were great. They suggested the Mt Farrell hike just up the road, which was amazing, and a walk to the dam gave us spectacular reflections and a chance to spot platypus. We loved our two-night stay and found the accommodation really comfy. Had a hearty steak dinner that melted in our mouths, then played pool and darts. The pork and gravy rolls were great too. Stop if you see the black board sign on the road for one of those!

The food is really good, simple but tasty and made with quality ingredients, and the service is friendly. We've been staying locally and chose to eat here the last two nights. It's winter, but I felt sad there weren't more people supporting the place. It doesn't show up on Google maps as a nearby place to eat, so maybe that's why. It's described as a bar rather than a restaurant, though I know it's both. Definitely worth a visit for pub vibes and good food.

I stopped in for evening drinks and liked the range of bottled beers, plus some great local beers on tap. It's a great local venue, with table tennis, darts, pool, and a big fire to keep groups entertained. Service was great. I didn't order food, but what others had looked good. Drop in if you're nearby and fancy a bite and a beer.

The vibes were amazing and the dam view was stunning 👏 Food was just okay. I also took a drone shot from there.
