City Lights Motel

For budget accommodation, I was really satisfied with the service and quality. I booked at short notice for NYE celebrations, and it was affordable. The room was clean, fresh towels came every day, and the staff were friendly and understanding.

The pool and location were the only nice parts. The room felt dirty and had a yellow tinge. There was hair on the beds, the fridge leaked, the wifi didn't work, and the mouldy toiletry dispensers were all empty. The blankets were basically sheets, so we were really cold. Wouldn't recommend it.

We were glad to get out the next morning. Walking into reception, the stench of smokers hit us, and the man there looked unkempt, like a homeless person. In Room 22, a musty smell seemed to be covered with Glen 20 or something. The room looked dodgy, with an open fridge, very old and dirty-looking furniture, and a bed hanging off the wall. The chairs were filthy, the doors were battered, and the whole room was an eyesore. Wouldn't recommend it at all.

Good location and no road noise, but the stay was unpleasant. The room looked sufficient at first, and the receptionist was friendly, though reception reeked of cigarette smoke. The room had a strong smell of urinal fresheners that lasted all night. I don't know what smell they were covering up, but it worked. There was only one towel for two people, one teaspoon, no cutlery, and no internet. I found a bandage between the sheets with my foot, and the sheets weren't fresh. There was just one power point, which isn't enough these days when you've got several things to charge. The dated furniture, filthy lounge, couch, and chairs, plus a large hole behind the headboard, didn't help. We only stayed one night, and I wouldn't spend another there.
