Luxury Apartments at Brookleigh

The horses and gardens are beautiful, and the apartment itself was lovely. But this didn’t feel like a luxury stay. My husband and kids booked the overnight spa, dinner and breakfast package for my 50th, and several things let us down. We were the only couple staying, yet a girl who didn’t seem to be expecting us greeted us through the screen door. The spa was amazing, though barking dogs kept interrupting the relaxation. Dinner was delicious but expensive, and the $100 voucher didn’t cover it. The pool area wasn’t maintained. I know it was winter, but if it’s offered as a place to sit, it needs some care. The TV and radio didn’t work, and the alternatives were very old movies and CDs. The dishwasher also didn’t work, apparently for six years according to reviews, and there was a half-used bottle of moisturiser in the bathroom. At midnight, footsteps in heels and slamming doors woke us, presumably from the main house. Breakfast was okay, but the toaster wasn’t plugged in, and we had to look for its cord. There was nothing to spread on our crumpets. I knocked on the office door at 8:45 am, with the dogs barking, but nobody answered. It seemed like the owners were focused on weddings and the overnight stays were just a hobby. When we raised our concerns in the morning, we felt rushed out because she was busy. My daughter called to discuss it later, but all they remembered was us saying we’d had an amazing time. I wouldn’t recommend the overnight package.
