Valla Beach Holiday Park

We added an extra night because we wanted to savour the trip. The cabins were clean and comfortable, with everything we needed to have dinner in. It was a beautiful overnight stay, and we’d definitely come back for longer.

The creek view was lovely, and the local tavern and cafes were good too. We tried the Big Thong for a swim because the two pools were a little busy. The food van in the park looked very popular. We could easily spend a week here. We visited in the second week of January, a busy time, but it didn’t feel overly crowded. Check-in was easy and the reception staff were friendly. We loved the economy beach cabin. It was a bit shabby, but the appliances were new and clean, the beds were comfortable, and we could park right outside.

The location is good, right across from beach access, with a dog friendly direction along the beach. The caravan sites look okay, but the park needs a serious investment in maintenance. The service buildings are shabby, and the cabins are terribly old and out of date, with old toilets, bathrooms and kitchenettes, plus rotting wood outside. The bed was so soft I kept rolling into the same position. I tried a bunk, but started itching within minutes and had to go back to the awful worn out bed. The cabins need a total rebuild. The only door lock was an old push button, with no inside chain, so it didn’t feel secure. To get wifi, you have to sit under two shade cloths beside the tennis court. Good luck with that if it’s hot or raining. The bar area wasn’t open either. I wouldn’t return.

We booked three nights and wound up staying seven. We have a very large motorhome, and the staff were helpful in finding a site that fit us. The grounds were lovely, and the pool was nice. There’s a short walk to the beach, where dogs can be off leash on the south side of the bridge. The bar was open Friday and Sunday evenings, and the little cooking van on site had handy, very yummy snacks, burgers, fish and chips. It’s a short drive to Nambucca heads.
