The place was clean and comfortable, and it had a good range of appliances. Being right on the beach was great. But we ran into a few frustrating problems. On the second afternoon and evening there was no hot water for showers. We left a message for the caretakers when they weren’t available, then called again about an hour later. They answered and said the gas bottle might be empty. Around half an hour after that, they called to say the hot water was working again. The power also kept cutting out. The caretakers came the first time and reset the switch in the power box, but it happened several more times when we used combinations of the toaster, kettle, air conditioning, or microwave. We had to keep going downstairs and outside to reset the switch ourselves. And with no shower door, water ended up all over the bathroom floor.

There aren’t any lifesavers, but there is a sheltered cove at the JB end of the beach. The sand is lovely and white, the water is clear with hardly any seaweed, and the surf rolls in gently.

The waterfront view made our stay really lovely. The only downside was that our friends said the mattress in the second bedroom wasn’t very comfortable.
