It’s good value if you’re after some solitude. The area is pleasant and quiet, a nice place to rest, though there were too many goats. I’m not sure NPWS cleans it. We spent 90 minutes getting the few rooms we used up to a reasonable standard.
The big verandas and screened porch kept the bugs out, and we saw kangaroos. There were lovely birds around and emu tracks, though we didn’t spot any emus. The private road had a bit of traffic as workers came and went. We had a great stay and would come again. The house can accommodate 9, with plenty of space, good cleanliness, a gas stove I loved, and a large fridge. We’d planned for 1 double bed based on the information, but got a queen instead, so our linen didn’t fit. We managed. At first the river seemed far away, but a walk along the road past the National Park depot led us to the beautiful Macintyre River. Fishing might be great, though we had no luck. I’d have gone for a swim, but the water was cold. It would be great with a canoe, though you’d need a trolley to get it down to the river since cars can’t access it.
