Hotham Ridge Estate

We didn’t see another person during our stay, and the whole estate felt deserted and abandoned. This isn’t a winery or farm stay. The few cottages seemed to be maintained by someone unseen, and the bathroom was dirty. The furniture looked like it had come from an op shop. With everything in the area shut down, I wouldn’t recommend it. It felt like old internet reviews and an incorrect Booking.com listing were being used to draw unsuspecting guests in.

We came here to get away from city life, and it was just right. Nina and Billie both have everything you need, and the owners leave bread, farm eggs, beans, milk, plus tea and coffee for breakfast. The cottage living room feels cosy, the bathroom is really spacious, and the bed and linen were comfortable and decent quality. Each cottage has its own private BBQ area, and the view outside is fabulous. It’s got a character of its own, with little details that made us feel at home. WiFi was great too.

We went home after two nights feeling rested and refreshed. The cottage was adorable and the bed really comfortable, and the owners were lovely. Bette Midler, the resident dog, came by while we were having breakfast and stayed for cuddles. It’s a great close-to-the-city spot for a quiet weekend doing nothing. We also took a few bottles of their organic shiraz home. So good!

The hillside views were lovely, and the cottage was spacious, clean, and well equipped. We arrived late after bad weather delayed us down south, but the host kept in touch and had the air conditioning on, so it was warm and cosy when we got there. The host and staff were fantastic. We only stayed one night on the way home to Perth, to make the drive the next day shorter, and wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you!
