The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I expected some road noise because of where the motel is. Still, for the same price I’ve found a much cleaner, more modern room in a nearby town. Here, the room felt dated and overpriced. The bathroom was dirty, with an old shampoo bottle in the shower and its lid on the floor, which made me wonder how well the room had been cleaned. The curtains didn’t close properly either, leaving the window exposed while I slept. The traffic noise was a problem for me as a light-to-medium sleeper.

After a disappointing room the night before, I was nervous about booking our cheapest night of the trip. The Downtown Motel Warrnambool turned out to be the most comfortable room we stayed in. Everything was clean and clearly well looked after. The bed was super comfortable, the pillows were amazing, and the electric blanket felt blissful. I even added the duvet to my list of things to buy.

The staff were lovely, checkout was easy, and the pool area and rec room looked nice when we saw them, though both were empty in the middle of the afternoon. The room itself had dusty surfaces and stained towels, which felt below what I’d expect for the price. I tried to air out the musty smell, but smoke from other guests in the parking lot came into the room and wouldn’t clear.

We arrived on motorcycles last night and paid $100 for a room. The manager and his wife were incredibly helpful, and the room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable. The pub across the road was great too. I’d recommend it to riders or anyone wanting a nice stay without spending a fortune.

Being near the main market was a plus, though we didn’t use room service, so I can only give an average rating for that and the location. I definitely wouldn’t book here again. The carpet was too dirty to walk on barefoot, the room didn’t feel fresh, and there was no lock on the washroom. There wasn’t any cutlery for food brought back to the room, and the parking was so tight that getting out of the car was difficult. It didn’t feel like good value for what we paid. A disappointing stay.
