Gallery Apartments

The location is perfect and the room was clean. If you’re a light sleeper, avoid an apartment near the Lava Street side. Some mornings around 4am, loud cars can wake you right out of bed.

The rooms are clean and good, but there’s very little service here. We stayed two nights and called reception three times. The toilet flush button needed fixing because it kept falling into the grimy cistern, where we had to fish it out by hand. We also asked for a few more Lipton tea bags for the second night. Each time they said they’d see what they could do and call back, but nobody ever did. Other than that, things were fine, except the power outlets were hard to reach, so we couldn’t charge our phones in the rooms.

There’s plenty of space, it’s quiet, and it has what you need. A few things are showing their age: the couch is tired, the exhaust fans roar, and there are no fly screens. Aside from those little issues, it’s great.

The apartment looks nice, but the rules and penalties were too much for us. Checkout is at 10 and guests are expected to leave it clean, which is fine, but they charge you if you’re even a little late. I’m on holiday and paying to sleep there, not expecting to clean. We were getting ready to go, and I wasn’t even fully dressed when someone tried the door with a key at 9:19am. We felt so rushed. They came straight in before we’d even driven away at 9:47. Not a pleasant experience 😔😲
