Elvenhome Farm

The rural setting was lovely, though Deloraine is about a 20 minute drive away, so it’s worth getting groceries before heading to the farm. The Van Diemens Land creamery is close by too, and so good! We spent two nights at Elvenhome Farm with our kids, aged 10 and 8, and all had a fantastic time. We wanted to stay longer, but the cottage was booked, so we couldn’t change our trip. Graham and Kathleen have made a wonderful, relaxing place. The spacious cottage was bright, clean, cosy and well equipped, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The farm was lovely. Kathleen took the kids to pick fruit and veggies, and they helped feed the chickens and sheep. They also offer sustainable living classes. I wish I’d checked the website before our visit.

The country roads around here were good, with just a short dirt stretch on Grundys Road leading to the farm. Deloraine is delightful, and I’d recommend the heritage museum. On clear nights, the stars were fabulous. I especially loved watching the birds and listening to them for ages, with the Fairy Wrens as my favourites. There’s Wi-Fi, and my own connection worked fine at the cottage, just a little slowly. It was easy to switch off and enjoy the farm atmosphere, with chooks, sheep and wildlife around, and you can lend a hand if you like. The kitchen had everything I needed and the bed was very comfortable. Being here in spring felt magical. Thanks, Kathleen and Graham, for sharing this wonderful place.

In June 2022, we were surprised by cold weather and a blackout, but Graham came over within minutes to check on us. The cabin was clean and had a well equipped kitchen, and we really enjoyed our stay. It was such a relaxing holiday that the kids were already asking when we could come back.

A really welcoming host and a lovely spot to stay. It’s very quiet out of Deloraine.
