Sponars Chalet

The food was disappointing. Half of our group of 10 got sick after dinner on the first night, and the pool was out of order during our stay. We were also let down by the bus schedule, with only two trips up the hill in the morning and two in the afternoon. The building looked lovely from outside, and friends who stayed about four years ago recommended it, but it seemed to have gone downhill since then. It also appeared understaffed, with Josh running around trying to do everything. We were disappointed with the rooms too.

A cosy room and an okay breakfast, in a charming chalet where there were plenty of evening activities, including cards, darts, and billiards. We stayed two nights and found it pleasant. Some areas could use refurbishment, and the pools weren’t working during our visit.

It’s only two hours from town, yet a three-night stay here felt like being in another world, away from the busy routine. We loved the peaceful view from our Alpine room and the beautiful location near the ski resorts. The service was especially impressive. The supervisor was friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful, and the staff were caring. The chef served wonderful comfort food, with a lot of heart in every dish. We’re happy we stayed at this charming heritage property and look forward to coming back. 😊

Josh and Sean made our family feel right at home at Sponars Chalet. The heritage building has a lovely old-world charm, and the place is great value. It’s a short drive to the ski fields and very close to being on snow at Perisher. It even snowed at the chalet while we were there, which was a real treat. We had a wonderful stay, highly recommend it, and hope to return next winter.
